Drayton Manor Theme Park

Drayton Manor Theme Park is a theme park and zoo near Tamworth, Staffordshire (in the West Midlands).

The park attracts about 1.5 million visitors per year, and includes a variety of attractions, including "Thomas Land", themed around the children's train character Thomas the Tank Engine, and "The Shockwave", which is Europe's only stand-up rollercoaster.
The 15 acre (6 hectare) zoo contains over 100 species from around the world, including big cats, primates, reptiles, and birds.
Just outside the park is a miniature golf facility, as well as a caravan and camp site.

Drayton Manor Theme Park was constructed on the grounds of the former Drayton Manor - a stately home that is no longer standing. The park began as a small children's amusement park that opened in 1949, and a small zoo was opened on the ground as well in 1954. The park grew slowly over the next 30 years, until in the late 1980s, larger and more thrilling rides began to be added, which of course, greatly increased the park's attraction to visitors. Today, Drayton Manor Theme Park is the 5th most popular theme park in the United Kingdom.
